‘“Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.  And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” (Revelation 12:10-11)

How many of you have watched a series on Netflix that you enjoyed so much that you told all your friends they just had to watch it? Or have you tried a new restaurant that was so good, every time someone mentioned they were looking for a new place to eat, you recommended it right away? Or how about that business that had such incredible customer service you told everyone about it? How about all the times you replayed that sporting event you watched the night before with your friends, the guy at the grocery store, around the water cooler at work and posted about on social media? While those things are fun and helpful, they are not eternal. They are temporary pleasures that will fade. Imagine having that same zeal and excitement in sharing what Jesus has done for you. Imagine letting everyone know how you were healed because you encountered Jesus.

After salvation, there is nothing better than the miraculous touch of Jesus. When we experience that place where heaven invades earth and we see God move in ways our earthly abilities cannot fix, oh the joy!!! Sickness healed! Addiction gone! Relationships restored! Pain ceased! Lives transformed! Our miracle stories matter.

A beautiful example of the power of a testimony is found in John 4 where we learn about the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus offered her living water. In their exchange, Jesus told her all about her life and revealed to her that he was the Messiah. She believed. Instead of keeping her experience with Jesus to herself, she told everyone she knew. As a result, her whole town was saved. Saved because of one encounter, one shared testimony.

When we share what God has done for us it fuels our faith and the faith of those around us. It raises our expectation for God to move again. Testimonies build hope. Why? If God did it for one, he will do it for another. Miracles are to be shared. Healings are to point to Jesus and give him glory. Deliverance is to be celebrated! There is no testimony too small or insignificant. May we boldly share our testimonies from the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering and all the ways we experience the goodness of God in our lives!

Listening Prayer:

Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind the many ways God has moved in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit what specific testimonies to share with those around you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you are so good. There is no one like you. I praise you and thank you for saving me. If that were all that you did for me, it would be a testimony worth sharing over and over. But Lord, in your love and generosity, you continue to move on behalf of those who love you. We exalt you for your power and your goodness. We offer up our thanks for the miracles you have done. Lord, we ask for boldness to share the ways you have healed us, delivered us, and brought us freedom. We pray that many would share their testimonies as well. Use our testimonies to encourage those around us and help us be distributors of your hope. Continue to open our eyes to the things you are doing so we can boast about you. Lord, may what we experienced be just the beginning of so much more to come. We give you all the glory! In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

Resource: Bible Verses on the Power of the Testimony

“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!” (1 Chronicles 16:8-9)

“As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.’ And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.” (Mark 5:18-20)

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12)

“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,” (2 Timothy 1:8-9)
