Our emotions are a gift from God. He gave us the ability to feel and perceive a vast array of emotions that were created in his image. Emotions help us process our experiences, empathize with others, convey love, joy, sorrow, protect our hearts, and manage pain. They are a beautiful, expressive part of who we are.
When we experience hard things, the enemy likes to exploit our emotions and use them to hold us captive to our hurts. These places that need to be healed are unseen. The lasting wounds inflicted upon us may not be physical in nature, but come from deep emotional hurt from circumstances we have endured. These may be the results of choices we have made or the choices others have made where we were caught in the crossfire of their sin. Many have lasting trauma from all forms of abuse, broken relationships, unmet childhood needs, love withheld, addiction, accidents, etc. People suffering from fear, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts has become commonplace in our society.
But Bridgway, I have really good news for you! There is healing for all our emotional pain in Jesus. The power of God can heal the pain of every single emotional hurt. 2 Samuel 5:20 reveals another name of God and aspect of his nature. It says, “So David went to Baal Perazim and there he defeated the Philistines. He said, ‘The Lord has broken through my enemies like a flood.’ And so that place is called Baal Perazim.”’ Baal Perazim means “Lord of the Breakthrough” in Hebrew. We serve a God who brings breakthrough. The enemy wants us to be held captive to those memories and emotional hurts, but God wants us to be free. You may feel stuck, but God brings your breakthrough. Just as God gave David victory over the Philistines and broke through them like a flood, so also can he break through the strongholds and the spiritual enemies attacking our thoughts and our emotions. He can break through them like a flood and wash away the pain they caused.
God is so intimately acquainted with each one of us. He knows our stories, the hardships we have endured, and the ways we suffer. He knows how to love us perfectly and come into each place of hurt to bring restoration. He can come into each deficit and bring us the very thing we lack. Let us once again, come together as a family and intercede for all those coming to the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering with emotional wounds. Join together with our Heavenly Father, the “Lord of the Breakthrough”, in agreement for all emotional pain to be healed.
Listening Prayer:
Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight the specific types of emotional healing he wants you to intercede for. Pray as he directs.
Prayer:
Jesus, we thank you that your death on the cross and resurrection not only paid the price for our salvation but also for our healing. Thank you that you provided for healing all of our emotional wounds. We ask right now that you would begin the process of healing every person coming to the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering with emotional pain. Touch their hearts and their minds right now, wherever they are. Help each person to forgive those, who in their sin and brokenness, have been a part of causing that pain. Help each one release the perpetrators of pain to you, Jesus, to be their judge. We call upon you, the Lord of the Breakthrough, to come like a flood and wash away fear, anxiety, trauma, suicidal thoughts, and every emotional pain. We ask that you release ministering angels to war on their behalf of each person, to set them free from the invisible bonds they carry. We pray that you break and remove each and every one. We eagerly anticipate all you will do and have begun to do, even now as we collectively pray. We give you all praise! In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears. The oppressed look to him and are glad; they will never be disappointed. The helpless call to him, and he answers; he saves them from all their troubles…The righteous call to the Lord, and he listens; he rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who are discouraged; he saves those who have lost all hope.” (Psalm 34:4-6; 17-18)
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord‘s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:1-3)
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
