INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS INJUSTICE EVERYWHERE
SESSION 1 : A HISTORY
This video defines terms and goes through the historical account of racism in America. This lays the foundation for the rest of the conversation. The goal is to enter into the conversation with understanding the emotional weight that the past still carries.
This is not political- There is no way to talk about these issues without touching on subjects common in political discussions, but the purpose is to address societal harm and bring the Truth and love of Christ into a bad situation. Don’t let politics cloud your ability to listen.
SESSION 2: MODERN DAY ISSUES
In this session, we’re going to talk about modern concerns. Systemic racism vs. personal prejudice. It’s easy to think that racism is in the past, and we’re going to see that in fact, that is not true.
This session, again, is about modern-day issues. I want to warn you, this information will likely be uncomfortable. But, when we’re faced with discomfort there are all sorts of release valves we can try to pull to ease that discomfort.
It’s a challenging session but a great one.
SESSION 3: WHAT DOES GOD HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS
Disclaimer: This is the newest and least understood part of our discussion.
This session we look at what the Bible has to say about these issues. What is the biblical framework for us to engage in these conversations? Is this the gospel that Jesus taught?
SESSION 4: NOW WHAT
This session is about taking the information we have learned and figuring out how to put this into action. We encourage you to continue to process this and to see if God’s heart is in this. Consider what has made you uncomfortable. If we believe that God is in this and we believe that God is calling us to be part of the healing process as individuals and communities.
In this session Pastor Lance and Pastor Parnell, will share about how we can move forward in action and truth and we have some great guest speakers as well.
