John 14:12-14

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”

Recently, Pastor Lance reminded us that when God enters a situation, reality can be altered. At WPHG we see many situations that apart from God, would not be possible to change. But we know with God, nothing is impossible. Throughout scripture, we see many demonstrations of miracles, signs, and wonders. Noah was given the blueprints and strategies for a boat long before a drop of rain ever fell from the sky. The Israelites experienced such wonders as the parting of the Red Sea, water from rocks, and manna from heaven. Jesus multiplied loaves and fishes, walked on water, and performed countless miracles including raising of the dead and commanding demons out of a man and into pigs. And God moved through the disciples and Paul causing the lame to walk, the blind to see. He even used Peter’s shadow to heal. For what purpose? To bring glory to the Father and that people would believe.  God has not changed. Each miracle, sign, and wonder points people to Jesus. Each miracle, sign, and wonder creates an opportunity for people to know they are seen, heard, known, and loved by God. Each miracle, sign, and wonder is an invitation to know and experience God both for the first time and in a deeper capacity.

As a believer, Jesus lives in you. In Romans 8 we are reminded the same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, that You are God’s child, a co-heir with Christ, and that nothing can separate you from his love. His presence is in you and with you. In Psalm 139, David tells us we cannot escape God’s presence. If God is in us, he will move through us. Wherever God is, is an opportunity for a miracle. Since his presence is everywhere, everywhere is an opportunity for him to move. God wants to partner with us to touch the lives of those around us. He has created us to be conduits of his power and to see things the way he does. As we pray over WPHG today, let’s pray in agreement asking God to move in and through all of us with miracles, signs, and wonders.

Listening Prayer:

Holy Spirit, what are your expectations for WPHG? How do you want me to prepare my heart, mind, and spirit for this event?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, we come together today as a body of believers, united in desire and purpose. We pray you will move powerfully at the WPHG. We recognize nothing is impossible with God. We offer you our collective mustard seeds of faith and ask for you to move mountains on behalf of each person coming with a need. We ask you to come alter our realities. We ask for cancer to be dissolved, marriages to be healed, addictions to be broken, limbs to grow out, deaf ears to be opened, blind eyes to see, mental illness to be healed, provision to be granted, prodigals to return home, our enemies to be destroyed, relationships to be restored, favor to be granted, and most of all souls to be won for the Kingdom. May our eyes be so focused on you, the problem solver, that nothing we see in front of us seems impossible. We praise you because you are more than capable. We praise you because you have everything we need. We worship you, who loves each person more than we could ever comprehend, sees each need, knows all hearts, hears all the cries for help, and has an abundance to cover all of it. Lord, we ask for an extravagant outpouring of miracles, signs, and wonders at WPHG. May it not just be for this one night, but may it be our standard moving forward. May your miracles, signs, and wonders continue well beyond this event, and may they spread throughout our region into all of the body of Christ! In Jesus’ powerful name, Amen.

Resource: Bible Verses on Miracles, Signs, and Wonders

Psalm 77:11-14

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.”

Mark 16:15-18

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Acts 5:12-16

“Now many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon’s Portico. None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high esteem. And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”
