Deuteronomy 20:4

“For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.”

In my short lifetime, I have had the privilege of seeing God move in magnificent ways on behalf of his children. I have also walked alongside suffering and grievous situations where faithful prayers seemed to go unanswered. In both types of circumstances I held onto the truth that God is good all the time, he loves his children, and will never fail them.

One specific testimony of God fighting for me and granting me victory occurred when I visited the doctor due to a troubling sensation in my pelvis. An ultrasound revealed that my uterus had grown significantly, filling my abdomen and pressing against my organs. I had been fervently praying for a swift resolution, as this issue was debilitating me for days at a time each month.

Based on my symptoms and ultrasound results, my doctor expedited the surgery to remove my uterus. This was a clear answer to prayer! However, after the surgery, we received a notice that my insurance would not cover the procedure or any part of the hospital visit, leaving us with a nearly $40,000 medical bill. For a year, we lived in the tension of our insurance battling the doctor’s decision.

Despite my faith and the many testimonies I had witnessed, I began to feel a bit helpless. After a year, I called the hospital to check the status of the bill, only to discover that my balance had been paid. I felt immense relief and recognized this as a testimony of God fighting on my behalf.

To clarify, I never viewed my insurance company or the hospital as my enemies. I simply needed help. I had faithfully followed my doctor’s instructions, prayed diligently, and managed the situation to the best of my ability. When things started to fall apart, I desperately needed the Lord’s intervention.

In Revelation, we read about the power of God’s word and the testimonies of the saints in the final days. The testimony of the saints is crucial, giving God glory for his miracles and encouraging others to pray for their victory. I have endured many seasons where I did not hear an immediate answer to my prayers and had to walk through the process before me. However, this story stands out as a true victory both physically and in terms of provision.

Recently at one of the Monday Night Open Prayer events, one of the women attending had back pain causing a limited ability for her to move. She couldn’t even get up to give people a hug. This particular night, the group listened to a recorded testimony of a pastor who received healing for his voice while he preached on God’s goodness, love, and healing power. As the woman listened to the recorded testimony with the group, God healed her back! It was a joy to listen to her give God all the glory as she danced and moved around in ways she could not when she came. The joy and excitement from her encounter with the Lord was contagious.

So what do we do with our story? We seek the Lord in all things through prayer and search for wisdom in his word. We ask for what we need and when God moves in our circumstances, we share. There is power in the testimony, both for us and for others.

With the culmination of our 40 days of Prayer and Fasting and our Worship Prayer and Healing Gathering, there is no better time to practice the sharing of your testimony than now.

When we share what God has done for us it fuels our faith and the faith of those around us. It raises our expectation for God to move again. Testimonies build hope. Why? If God did it for one, he will do it for another. Miracles are to be shared. Healings are to point to Jesus and give him glory. Deliverance is to be celebrated! There is no testimony too small or insignificant. May we boldly share our testimonies from the Worship, Prayer, and Healing Gathering and proclaim all the ways we experience the goodness of God in our lives!

Listening Prayer:

Holy Spirit, remind me of the times that you have gone before me and brought victory. How can I bring you glory from my testimony?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you are so good. There is no one like you. I praise you and thank you for saving me. If that were all that you did for me, it would be a testimony worth sharing over and over. But Lord, in your love and generosity, you continue to move on behalf of those who love you. We exalt you for your power and your goodness. We offer up our thanks for the miracles you have done. Lord, we ask for boldness to share the ways you have healed us, delivered us, and brought us freedom. Help me to be sensitive to your prompting and give me courage to share the wonders you have done in my life, through impossible circumstances, when there was no other answer but you. Bring me people that need the encouragement my story provides Lord, we pray that many would share their testimonies as well. Use our testimonies to encourage those around us and help us be distributors of your hope. May our testimonies lead to others being saved and healed. Continue to open our eyes to the things you are doing so we can boast about you. Lord, may what we experienced last night be just the beginning of so much more to come. We give you all the glory! In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

Resource: Bible Verses on the Power of Your Testimony

Proverbs 21:31

“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”

1 Chronicles 29:11

“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.”

1 John 5:6-11

“This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

1 Chronicles 16:8-9

“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!”

Mark 5:18-20

“As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.’ And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.”

1 Timothy 6:12

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
