“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.” (1 Timothy 2:5-6)
Have you ever been in a court of law? We are all familiar with how it works. A person, whether a defendant or a plaintiff is represented by a lawyer who speaks on their behalf. This is a lot like intercession. Intercession is simply praying on behalf of another. Jesus was the most extravagant example of intercession. He stood between us, while we were soiled with sin, and the Father. He gave his life to be the payment for our sin so we could come into relationship with him and receive all the benefits of being a child of God. When we come into a place of intercession, we put ourselves between the person of need and God. We are coming to the Father and contending on behalf of another for him to intervene.
Our community is full of people needing a touch from Jesus. In less than a week, our church will be filled with people coming with all kinds of requests, infirmities, and hurts desperate for a touch from Jesus. Many will be battle weary, too tired in the fight to pray for themselves. You may be there too. When we pray corporately for God to move, we are no longer alone in our struggles. We are agreeing together as a Kingdom family for healing, deliverance, and freedom for all. This week, let us link arms, united in purpose to contend for healing of bodies, minds, souls, and spirits for all who come to the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering. Let us place ourselves between those in need and our Heavenly Father to petition for him to move on their behalf.
Prayer Focus:
Today, let’s focus on praying for protection and covering over all who are involved in the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering. When we come to church, we experience a well-oiled machine because of all the preparation that has gone into each week. We don’t have to think about all the details that go on behind the scenes to make it happen; we just get to enjoy the fruit of their hard work and receive from the Lord. The Worship, Prayer and Healing Gatheringis filled with preparation both in physical, practical ways, and in spiritual ways. Let’s pray for protection over the ones working behind the scenes this week to make this event possible:
- Pastoral Team and Bridgeway Staff
- Elder Board
- Worship Team
- Tech Crews
- Hospitality Team
- Custodial Team
- Prayer Team
- All Volunteers
Listening Prayer:
Ask the Holy Spirit who and what specific ways he wants you to intercede for the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering. Pray as he directs.
Additional Prayer Points:
- Pray protection and covering over their health, their families, their jobs, their homes, their finances, and everything pertaining to them.
- Pray for energy, resourcefulness, wisdom, knowledge, creativity, talent, skill, and manpower to accomplish all the tasks at hand.
- Pray for their spiritual walk, that in all the doing, they are able to take time to encounter the presence of the Holy Spirit. Pray each one would receive a fresh filling of the power of the Holy Spirit to be able to minister from an overflow of God’s love and power to those in attendance at the Worship, Prayer and Healing Gathering.
- Pray for unity and cohesiveness as they come together as a team to accomplish all the logistical preparations.
- Pray over the property that every square inch would be anointed by the Holy Spirit and that the presence of God would be felt from the moment people pull into the parking lot.
- Pray for everything to be accomplished will be in line with God’s will for the evening.
Resource: Bible Verses on Intercession
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (Ephesians 6:18)
“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:19-20)
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27)
